October 22, 2026
At 1 o'clock this afternoon, more than 50 vendors start setting up along Railroad Avenue and the pavilion. They'll have produce, baked goods, handmade art and pop-up boutiques. A flower truck will be parked nearby, and live music will be playing at the Porch. This is the first day of Stars, Flannel and Vintage Weekend. It also starts a month in which nearly every downtown event happens within a short walk of the old train depot.
The location is what matters most this fall. The Depot at 5302 Railroad Ave, the amphitheater on Mitchell Street, City Hall on Pine Street and the storefronts along Main Street sit close together. You can park once and get to everything on foot. The newest stop in that loop, The Porch on Main, sells bread, milk and eggs as well as candy apples. That makes downtown a place to stop on an ordinary weekday, too.
The City of Flowery Branch's event page lists the full schedule. Each day moves to a different part of downtown.
Thursday, October 22, 1 to 7 PM. The farmers market fills Railroad Avenue and the pavilion. From 3 to 7 PM there's a petting zoo at City Hall, 5410 Pine St. Coffee is available all over downtown. You'll find lawn games on Main Street and troubadours walking around, and the shops and restaurants along Main stay open.
Friday, October 23, 9 AM to 9 PM. Friday has the most going on. Main Street will have coffee and live music all day, plus puzzles, a book swap, lawn games and Mahjong. From 1 to 6 PM, market shopping moves to North Main and Church Street. Inside the Depot at 5302 Railroad Ave, local makers teach three craft classes, and each one needs registration:
At 2 PM, Mahjong Birdie teaches "Mahj 101: First Peck on Main Street" for new players. The Sammy Shepard Band Trio plays Main Street from 4 to 6 PM.
When the sun goes down, the evening moves to The AMP at 5603 Mitchell St for a showing of The Parent Trap. The city suggests bringing lawn chairs and blankets. There will be a popcorn wagon with snacks, and New Beginnings Brew and Phoenix Coffee Roasters will be serving at the amphitheater.
Saturday, October 24, 9 AM to 2 PM. Saturday is the shortest day. Mahjong & Mimosas on Main starts at 10 AM. A pop-up market runs at the pavilion from 10 to 2. A Pressed Flower Resin Class meets at 10 AM and again at 1:30 PM.
There's also a food drive. The event page asks visitors to bring at least five non-perishable food items for the Horn of Plenty Food Drive. Anyone who donates gets a free event bag while supplies last. If you're coming down anyway, grab a few cans from the pantry before you go.
The amphitheater is at 5603 Mitchell Street. The Porch on Main is at the same number on a different street, 5603 Main Street. On Thursday, the city has live music scheduled at the Porch, so the new building is part of the festival.
The Porch on Main is a group of local businesses that partnered with Discover Lake Lanier to open it. According to its website, the tenants are:
| Business | What it offers |
|---|---|
| Discover Lake Lanier Gifts & Groceries | Georgia Grown and Georgia Made food and gifts, plus everyday staples like bread, milk and eggs |
| The Branch Social Wine & Market | A tasting room and wine bar featuring Georgia wines, along with specialty snacks |
| Baby Bell Candy Apple | Caramel apples with lots of toppings, soft-serve and cheesecake strawberries, in its first storefront |
| Arpeggio Coffee & Bakery | Specialty coffee, with everything on the menu made from sourdough |
| La Casita Ice Cream | Traditional Mexican ice creams and paletas, with furnished patios for eating outside |
| Haul Star Vintage Exchange | Vintage clothing, jewelry and bags for men and women |
The grocery counter is the most useful part of that list for people who live nearby. If you need a gallon of milk, you can now pick it up on Main Street instead of driving out to a highway shopping center. Haul Star Vintage Exchange also fits this weekend well, since vintage is right there in the festival's name.
The Branch Social is in Suite D. Its website posts regular weekly hours and a list of October events, so check there before planning an evening around a tasting.
The Porch is part of a longer row of downtown businesses. The city's business directory lists Peyton's Pie Company and Better Days By Peyton's Pie Co. at 5609 Main St, Whistle Q at 5509 Main, Whole Being Cafe at 5510 Main, Caroline's on Main at 5518 Main and Antebellum Restaurant at 5510 Church St. The same directory includes shops like Sample Pleasures Art, Antique & Gifts at 5504 Main, The Social Peach Boutique at 5515 Main and Tiny Threads Children's Boutique at 5527 Main. Hours change with the seasons, so calling ahead is a good idea before a special trip.
After this weekend, most events stay in the same few blocks. The one exception is a festival out on the lake. Here's what's coming through Thanksgiving week:
| Date | Event | Where | Details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thu, Oct 29 | Trunk or Treat | Downtown; the city calendar doesn't list a venue | 3:30 PM per the city calendar |
| Sat, Oct 31 | 27th annual Boo Run 5K | Starts at Flowery Branch Depot, 5517 Main St | Registration page says 9 AM |
| Nov 13–15 | Songwriter Festival | Lanier Islands Resort | $129 three-day pass |
| Fri, Nov 20 | Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration | 5310 Railroad Ave | Lantern parade at 6:30 PM, then the lighting |
Trunk or Treat is on the City of Flowery Branch calendar for Thursday, October 29, at 3:30 PM. Since the listing doesn't say where it is, check the calendar again that week for the location.
The Boo Run 5K is on Halloween morning and starts from the Depot. The race registration page gives a 9 AM start, while the city calendar shows 8 AM. If you're running, go by the registration page, and plan to arrive early in case the earlier time is right.
The Songwriter Festival at Lanier Islands Resort runs November 13 through 15, with performances at several venues around the resort. A three-day pass costs $129. The resort set October 15 as the release date for the full schedule. Check the festival page for the artist and stage lineup.
The Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration brings the holiday season back to Railroad Avenue on Friday, November 20. According to the event listing, the evening runs 6:30 to 9 PM at 5310 Railroad Ave. A lantern parade starts at 6:30, and the tree lighting comes after it. If you want to see the parade start, plan on getting there by 6:30.
Downtown may get bigger. In March 2026, AccessWDUN reported that Flowery Branch approved a predevelopment agreement for a downtown revitalization project. The plan includes about 9,000 square feet of ground-floor retail with a restaurant, plus a separate 3,000-square-foot restaurant with outdoor seating at Church and Pine. For now, that's a plan. No tenants or opening dates have been announced.
In June, the Gainesville Times announced Madame Hangover, a Thai and sushi restaurant coming to downtown Flowery Branch. The paper said it was expected to open in August. Keep an eye out for it on your next walk down Main Street.
Either project would add more places to the same small stretch where this fall's events already happen. Church Street is already a market lane on Friday afternoons this weekend.
